Sereact raises over € 25 million from Serie A
Stuttgart/ Berlin — Sereact, a company specializing in AI-supported robotics, has raised €25 million in its Series A financing round. The round was led by leading European venture capitalist Creandum. Other investors include Point Nine, Air Street Capital and a group of renowned business angels, including Nico Rosberg (former Formula 1 world champion), Mehdi Ghissassi (former Google DeepMind), Ott Kaukver (Skype), Lars Nordwall (former neo4j), Rubin Ritter (former Zalando), Torsten Reil and Niklas Köhler (both Helsing). — YPOG provided comprehensive legal advice to Sereact. Sereact is interesting for a number of reasons. Firstly, it is a pioneer in the development of Vision Language Action Models (VLAMs) for robotics. This addresses one of the biggest challenges associated with the use of robots, namely the fact that hardware and software must be developed specifically to perform individual, specialized tasks. Sereact’s VLAM enables zero-shot reasoning, where robots can intelligently understand their environment and perform tasks for which they have not been specifically trained. Secondly, Sereact is hardware agnostic. This sets it apart from many companies in the AI robotics space, which are hardware-first and still many years away from mass production (or in some cases already teleoperated). Sereact’s approach is to develop a base model that is suitable for all relevant robotics platforms — articulated arms, mobile robots and eventually humanoid robots. This also includes standardized, commercially available robot hardware. This innovative approach makes Sereact a pioneer and drives the vision of establishing embodied AI as the new standard in robotics. The technology is already being used by well-known customers such as the BMW Group, Daimler Truck, Bol, MS Direct and Active Ants. With the new funding, Sereact plans to further expand research and development, support new robotics platforms — from mobile robots to humanoid systems — and significantly strengthen its presence in the US.
