Main Capital Partners acquires Unik System Design
Stockholm — Main Capital Partners (“Main”) is pleased to announce the acquisition of a majority stake in Unik System Design (“Unik”). Unik is a leading software provider with deep industry and subject matter expertise in housing and property management and legal administration. Main will act as a strategic partner to the management team, supporting Unik’s journey to become a leading pure-play software-as-a-service (“SaaS”) provider focused on an international buy and build strategy.
Founded in 1985, Unik is an innovative Danish provider of industry-specific software with +240 employees and consultants in Vejle, Aalborg, Copenhagen and Warsaw. With nearly four decades of experience, the company has positioned itself with the most widely used software solutions on the market, serving more than 900 customers, from large private and public housing associations to law firms and corporate legal departments throughout Denmark.
Unik is in the process of reinventing itself, not only to deliver higher levels of efficiency, automation and digitization to its everyday users, but also to push the boundaries of what happens when digital innovation meets deep industry knowledge. Over the next few years, the two new SaaS products HabiCen for housing and property management and JustiCase for legal management will gradually replace the current products Unik Bolig and Unik Advosys.
Going forward, Main Capital Partners will actively support Unik in maintaining its strong growth momentum by further expanding its product offering to existing customers. In addition to organic growth initiatives, strategic acquisitions will be an important pillar of the strategy to complement the innovative product portfolio and strengthen the market position both in Denmark and abroad.
Jens Find, CEO of Unik System Design, comments, “In our dialogue with Main, we recognized the potential that this partnership could bring. After 38 years as CEO and principal owner, I clearly feel that this is the right decision for Unik, our customers and our employees. We will continue with the current management and the current owners will retain a significant 40% stake. For us, it’s more of a partnership than a sale.”
Tonni Rasmussen, CTO of Unik System Design, comments, “Our customers rely on our innovation and industry expertise to set the standard for how software can automate their business processes. The development of two groundbreaking SaaS products, HabiCen and JustiCase, is part of Unik’s next major innovation, with a focus on improved security and operational efficiency.”
