ADCURAM: Vitrulan acquires textile glass business from Preiss-Daimler Group
Munich / Markstschorgast / Auengrund — The Vitrulan Group, based in Marktschorgast, Germany, is taking over the textile glass business based in Brattendorf (Auengrund) of the medium-sized Preiss-Daimler Group. The specialist for technical products made of textile glass, part of the Munich-based industrial holding ADCURAM since 2016, is thus strengthening its market position in the segment of sophisticated, decorative textiles made of glass fibers. The transaction has already been successfully completed. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the details.
The former PD Glasfaser Brattendorf produces decorative textiles made of glass fabric and glass fleece with about 70 employees in Auengrund, Thuringia. Around 15 million euros per year are implemented. For the Vitrulan Group, based in Marktschorgast, Bavaria, the acquisition represents a further step in the successful implementation of its buy & build strategy: “Vitrulan is the quality leader for complex and functional decorative wall coverings based on glass fiber. The technical capabilities, product range and international brands of the new colleagues in Brattendorf will now further boost growth — through more flexible production options, shorter delivery times and thus overall more efficient customer service,” comments ADCURAM investment partner Broder Abrahamsen on the acquisition.
ADCURAM had already acquired a majority stake in the tradition-rich Vitrulan Group with around 470 employees in 2016 as part of a succession plan and has since been supporting it in new investments, geographical expansion and the development of new customer groups. The Vitrulan Group consists of Vitrulan Textile Glass GmbH, which produces wall and ceiling coverings made of glass yarn in Marktschorgast, and Vitrulan Technical Textiles GmbH, which manufactures technical textiles in Sonneberg (Haselbach, Thuringia), especially for the construction industry. Under the aegis of ADCURAM and the board of directors Dr. Philipp Gusinde (photo), Henry Brickenkamp and Michael Feldt, the newly founded V4heat GmbH was also added in 2018 as a third mainstay — it manufactures intelligent infrared heating systems based on glass mesh fabrics. In addition, the technical textile business of the Ahlström-Munksjö Group was acquired in 2019 through Vitrulan Composites Oy in Mikkeli, Finland, thus adding competencies in new textile and fiber technologies, in particular carbon and multiaxial know-how, to the Group.
